[N5] The difference between 降りる and 下りる

Good morning, today I will cover about the difference between 降りる and 下りる. Both verbs are pronounced as O-ri-ru.

As I am a Chinese, both of the words appear to have the same meaning in Chinese. However in Japanese, it is not exactly the same.

降りる is used when you want to get off something while 下りる is used when you are going down.

Examples of 降りる

エレベーターから降りる
Get off the elevator
電車を降りる
Get off the train
Examples of 下りる

階段を下りる
Go downstairs

[N4/5] The difference between 出る and 出かける

Hello, I am here to share with you the difference between 出る and 出かける. Although they look seemingly the same however they are not.

Meaning of 出る

Getting out

Meaning of 出かける

Getting out with a destination in mind

Usage of 出る

学校を出る
I left school

Usage of でかける

As you can see, both of the verbs are similar. Please do not mix up both of them.

My first post will be about the differences between tsukeru (つける) and akeru (開ける).

Meaning

つける: Switch/Turn on

There are tons of similarities between them but we have to choose the appropriate word for the right context.

パソコンをつける: Switch on the computer

ドアを開ける: Open the door

I will add more examples as time goes by.
